What mascara boxes is, and when it is the right call
Mascara packaging carries a functional requirement most cosmetics do not: the customer needs to know it has not been opened. A tuck flap alone does not prove that, so most brands specify either a tamper seal sticker or a die-cut locking tab that visibly tears on first opening.
The carton itself is a narrow tuck end sized to the tube plus the wand collar, which is usually wider than the barrel. Measuring only the barrel is the most common error we correct on artwork — the box then fits everywhere except where the cap seats.

Board weight decides more than the product category does. Most boxes we are asked to quote are specified one step heavier than they need to be, and that shows up on every unit.
Where a product sits near the limit of a construction, ask for both options to be quoted. The difference is usually a cent or two a unit and the decision becomes obvious.
