What lip gloss boxes is, and when it is the right call
Gloss sells on colour, which is a problem for a printed box: no ink match on carton board reproduces what the product looks like on the lip. Most brands solve it with a die-cut window rather than trying to print the shade, and the ones that print it usually reprint.
The carton is a short tuck end with a slot or oval aperture in the front face, patched with clear film. Because gloss tubes are round and light, a board collar keeps them from spinning in the pack during transit.
16pt to 20pt board. Holographic and pearlescent stocks run well in this category and cost a few cents over standard. Minimum 250 units. Board weight decides more than the product category does. Most boxes we are asked to quote are specified one step heavier than they need to be, and that shows up on every unit.
Where a product sits near the limit of a construction, ask for both options to be quoted. The difference is usually a cent or two a unit and the decision becomes obvious.
